This is one of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed in! I was so impressed - I have travelled all over the world and worked many housekeeping jobs so I know where to find the dirt and couldn't believe it. I made a comment to my friend staying with me (who has also worked in hotels) and they agreed it was one of the cleanest hostels ever! It was also nice and quiet, bed was comfy and in walking distance to some great restaurants. Highly recommend!

I am like the guest who never leaves thanks to Castlegar airport living up to its reputation, my A.C. Flight was canceled and in a panic I headed back to The Dancing Bear Inn to reclaim my room. I felt anxious about how and when I would get a flight home. However, once I returned to The Dancing Bear Inn, I started to relax. I was welcomed “ home” by the excellent staff, clean room, and friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend the Dancing Bear Inn for the above reasons and more…Prices are reasonable, there are Inn rules that guests follow without incidents and I feel safe . What more can a traveller ask for?

Excellent experience here in October 2025. My first time in Nelson and first time staying at a Hostel And I would absolutely stay here again in the future. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s everything I needed for my night in Nelson. It’s ina great location where you can walk to everything, Very clean, quiet and comfortable.I wish every city and town I stay at in my travels had a place like this.

Stayed here a couple of times, excellent location, super cosy lounge area and Cynthia - the manager makes you feel so welcome! Nothing is too much trouble and she brings so much life in to the hostel with her singing and great attitude! Will always stay here when visiting Nelson, thanks Dancing Bear crew!

Excellent hostel. Stayed in the 6 bed. Lobby is the perfect place to chill comfortably and get work done. I booked the wrong month but they got me in. V friendly, professional

I had a wonderful time at this hostel. From check-in, my friends and I were greeted with open arms. The staff were very nice and told us everything we needed to know about staying here, and they were also wonderful with suggestions on where to eat and explore. The building was beautiful, with common spaces that kept the charm of the original building. The fireplace in the main room was my favourite part and I was able to enjoy the warmth after being out in the rain. The room itself was clean and comfortable and exceeded all of my expectations. At checkout, the staff informed us of some local stops to add to my road trip itinerary that ended up being some of the highlights of my trip. After I somehow managed to forget my entire bag at the hostel, the staff went above and beyond helping me get it back. I could not be more thankful for them. Overall, I could not recommend staying here more. Between the location, cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, and the kindness of the staff, I am waiting to be able to come back and stay again.
